Pastor's Weekly Update: Sunday, November 28
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Happy Thanksgiving weekend! I hope that everyone has enjoyed the holiday and the opportunity to spend time with your family. It was great to see so many of you at Mass on Thanksgiving, starting this beautiful day by giving thanks to the Lord.
Today we begin the holy season of Advent. It’s not even December but it is here nonetheless! While we are all so busy preparing for the holidays, and already many celebrations already begin to occur this week, we strive to keep our focus on Christ by making this a season of penance and spiritual preparation for the rejoicing to come.
On Tuesday, the priests of the Diocese will gather for a Day of Recollection to help us focus on Lord during the Advent season. I hope that you will seek out opportunities to do something similar!
Recent read: The Life You Save May Be Your Own: An American pilgrimage by Paul Elie. This books weaves together the lives of four American Catholic authors: Dorothy Day, Flannery O’Connor, Walker Percy, and Thomas Merton. A beautiful and fascinating read.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
¡Feliz fin de semana de Acción de Gracias! Espero que todos hayan disfrutado de las vacaciones y la oportunidad de pasar tiempo con su familia. Fue genial ver a tantos de ustedes en la Misa de Acción de Gracias, comenzando este hermoso día dando gracias al Señor.
Hoy comenzamos el tiempo santo de Adviento. ¡Ni siquiera es diciembre, pero está aquí!
Mientras todos estamos tan ocupados preparándonos para las fiestas, y ya muchas celebraciones ya comienzan a ocurrir esta semana, nos esforzamos por mantener nuestro enfoque en Cristo haciendo de esto una temporada de penitencia y preparación espiritual para el regocijo por venir.
El martes, los sacerdotes de la Diócesis se reunirán para un Día de Recogimiento para ayudarnos a enfocarnos en el Señor durante la temporada de Adviento. ¡Espero que busques oportunidades para hacer algo similar!
