Pastor's Weekly Update: Sunday, February 25, 2024
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Thanks to everyone who came for the first session of our parish Lenten Series: “Christ Truly Present.” In the first session, we saw how the Scriptures point to the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In the second session this week, we will see the connection between the Last Supper and the Crucifixion. We hope to see you here Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Yesterday we had the first session of the Envisioning stage of our new parish priority plan. I am excited for the great momentum we have so far! A great team of parishioners is working on this plan, which will guide our parish’s work for the next three years.
Have you signed up for Forty Hours yet? 40 Hours is a traditional devotion where parishioners take turns adoring the Eucharistic Lord for forty straight hours. This will take place from the evening of Sunday, March 17 until the evening of Tuesday, March 19. There will be solemn opening and closing festivities on Sunday and Tuesday evenings, and talks on the Eucharist as the concluding chapter to our Lenten series on Sunday and Monday evenings. Please consider signing up for an hour of adoration and joining us each evening.
Don’t forget to sing up for our parish Lenten retreat on Saturday, March 9! We have excellent guest presenters in Dr. John Cavadini and Fr. Nestor Sanchez. I am really excited for this opportunity!
On Thursday, the priests of our diocese will gather for our own Lenten day of recollection, given by Bishop Joseph Perry, a retired auxiliary bishop from Chicago. Please pray that we will be spiritually renewed.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Gracias a todos los que vinieron para la primera sesión de nuestra serie de Cuaresma parroquial: “Cristo Verdaderamente Presente”. En la primera sesión vimos cómo las Escrituras apuntan a la presencia real de Cristo en la Eucaristía. En la segunda sesión de esta semana, veremos la conexión entre la Última Cena y la Crucifixión. Esperamos verlos aquí el martes a las 6 p.m.
Ayer tuvimos la primera sesión de la etapa de Visión de nuestro nuevo plan de prioridades parroquiales. ¡Estoy emocionado por el gran impulso que tenemos hasta ahora! Un gran equipo de feligreses está trabajando en este plan, que guiará el trabajo de nuestra parroquia durante los próximos tres años.
¿Ya te inscribiste para las Cuarenta Horas? Las 40 horas es una devoción tradicional donde los feligreses se toman turnos para adorar al Señor Eucarístico durante cuarenta horas seguidas. Esto tendrá lugar desde la tarde del domingo 17 de marzo hasta la noche del martes 19 de marzo. · Habrá festividades solemnes de apertura y cierre el domingo y martes por la tarde, y charlas sobre la Eucaristía como el capítulo final de las Jornadas Cuaresmales. Por favor, considere inscribirse para una hora de adoración y unirse a nosotros cada noche.

El jueves, los sacerdotes de nuestra diócesis se reunirán para nuestro propio retiro de Cuaresma, impartido por el Obispo Joseph Perry, un obispo auxiliar retirado de Chicago. Por favor oren para que seamos renovados espiritualmente.
