Pastor's Weekly Update: Sunday, August 13, 2023
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am glad to have Father Florin back from World Youth Day and look forward to hearing about this exciting event!
Tuesday this week we will celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation in which it is obligatory for all Catholics to attend Holy Mass. Please make sure to make time to attend Holy Mass this Tuesday in honor of our Blessed Mother’s Assumption into heaven.
Tomorrow is our parish school’s first day of class for the year. We are excited to have the school building buzzing with life and joy again!
Next Sunday will be the first Sunday with religious education / catechesis. That means our 2:45 p.m. Sunday Mass (in Spanish) will be back. We are excited to welcome these children and young people back to class as well!
On Wednesday I will participate in the diocesan Presbyteral Council meeting. This group of priests advises the Bishop on important matters that touch on the life of our entire diocese.
On Friday we have the third installment of our Barn Talk series on developing good taste as Catholics. The first two sessions focused on poetry and music. This one will be on the visual arts.
Recent read: The Book of Numbers. What impressed me most on this re-read was just how important the allotment of land was to the Israelites, and how many times it was emphasized that the Levites (the priestly tribe) were to have no land assigned to them, but to live from their work at the altar.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
¡Me alegra tener al Padre Florin de regreso de la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud y espero escuchar acerca de este emocionante evento!
El martes de esta semana celebraremos la Asunción de la Santísima Virgen María, un Día Santo de Obligación en el que es obligatorio que todos los católicos asistan a la Santa Misa. Por favor, asegúrese de hacer tiempo para asistir a la Santa Misa este martes en honor a la Asunción de Nuestra Santísima Madre al cielo.
Mañana es el primer día del año escolar de nuestra escuela parroquial. ¡Estamos emocionados de tener el edificio de la escuela lleno de vida y alegría nuevamente!
El próximo domingo será el primer domingo con educación religiosa / catequesis. Eso significa que nuestra misa dominical de las 2:45 p.m. (en español) estará de vuelta. ¡Estamos emocionados de dar la bienvenida a estos niños y jóvenes de nuevo a clase también!
El miércoles participaré en la reunión del Consejo Presbiteral diocesano. Este grupo de sacerdotes asesora al Obispo sobre asuntos importantes que tocan la vida de toda nuestra diócesis
