Pastor's Weekly Update: Sunday, April 23rd
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I keep forgetting to include my final Lenten confession count: 509 confessions. Other than a penance service at Marian High School accounting for 22 confessions, virtually all of these confessions were here at our parish. My highest daily count (62) was on the day I heard confessions for our Confirmation candidates, and my second-highest daily count (59) was on Good Friday (before, after, and during the Good Friday services). I am grateful for the devotion to this sacrament present here in our parish. It is essential for growing in holiness and achieving our life’s goal: our salvation.
We are privileged to host the Goshen Community Chorale this evening for their Easter concert of sacred music. I hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy beautiful sacred music for the Easter season. The concert features our parishioner, Danielle Svonavec.
Tuesday we celebrate the Feast of St. Mark. Happy feast day to all those who share the name of this great Evangelist!
I am looking forward to attending the Evangelium Vitae medal presentation at Notre Dame on Saturday. This award is given each year to someone who has made a significant contribution to advancing the Culture of Life in the United States. The recipient this year is Robert George, a prodigious scholar of whom it would not be an exaggeration to call him the principal intellectual architect of the pro-life legal movement currently alive in the United States. Dr. George has worked ferociously and effectively to restore natural law arguments to public discourse in our culture.
Recent read: Joseph Haydn by Jeremy Siepmann. This was a fun audiobook that interspersed a biography of one of my favorite composers with selections of his compositions.
Truly He is risen, Alleluia!

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Sigo olvidando incluir mi total de confesiones Cuaresmales: 509 confesiones. Aparte de un servicio de penitencia en la High School de Marian que representa 22 confesiones, prácticamente todas estas confesiones fueron echas aquí en nuestra parroquia. Mi conteo diario más alto (62) fue el día en que escuché confesiones para nuestros candidatos a la Confirmación, y mi segundo conteo diario más alto (59) fue el Viernes Santo (antes, después y durante los servicios del Viernes Santo). Estoy agradecido por la devoción a este sacramento presente aquí en nuestra parroquia. Es esencial para crecer en santidad y alcanzar la meta de nuestra vida: Nuestra salvación.
Tenemos el privilegio de ser anfitriones del Goshen Community Chorale esta noche para su concierto de Pascua de música sagrada. Espero que aprovechen esta oportunidad para disfrutar de la hermosa música sagrada para la temporada Pascual. El concierto cuenta con nuestra feligresa, Danielle Svonavec.

Estoy deseando asistir el sábado a la presentación de la medalla Evangelium Vitae en Notre Dame. Este premio se otorga cada año a alguien que ha hecho una contribución significativa al avance de la Cultura de la Vida en los Estados Unidos. El receptor este año es Robert George, un erudito prodigioso del que no sería una exageración llamarlo el principal arquitecto intelectual del movimiento legal pro-vida que actualmente vive en los Estados Unidos.
