Pastor's Weekly Message: Sunday, October 10th, 2021
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am away today celebrating my sister’s wedding with my family. Please say a prayer for the newlyweds: Mr. and Mrs. Matthew and Emily Saines. I am grateful to Fr. Logan as well as Fr. Constantino Rocha and Fr. John Herman for helping in my absence.
Fr. Logan and I will be away Tuesday – Thursday this week for the annual continuing education days for the diocesan clergy. This year’s conferences focus on preaching Catholic social teaching. There will be no confessions Tuesday evening through Thursday morning, and the Masses will be replaced by Communion services. I am very grateful to our parish deacons, Deacon Giovani Muñoz and Deacon Christian Nieves, for their assistance in our absence.
Thank you to everyone who has made you pledges for the Annual Bishop’s Appeal. We are so thankful for your generosity and your promptness. For those who have not yet made a pledge, thank you for prayerfully considering the way that the Lord is calling you to sacrificial generosity in support of the local Church. The Annual Bishop’s Appeal is critical for the financial health not only of our Diocese but also of our parish. You can take a pledge card from the entrance to church or fill it out on line. The next two weekends we will be hosting our annual Christ Renews His Parish retreats. Please pray for the men and women who will participate in these retreats, that an encounter with Christ might transform their hearts and fill them with a desire to live more fully as His sons and daughters in the midst of His body, the Church.
Recent read: Poems Written in Early Youth by T. S. Elliot. This was the last remaining work of Elliot’s verse for not to have read. It is incredible how he was already composing poetry as a young man, or even as a child. Poetry is one of the biggest missing pieces from modern education, and the poetry that is read in schools nowadays is, well, not quite up to Elliot’s standards.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Hoy estoy fuera celebrando la boda de mi hermana con mi familia. Por favor, oren por los recién casados: Sr. y Sra. Matthew y Emily Saines. Estoy agradecido con el l P. Logan y P. Constantino Rocha y P. John Herman por su ayuda en mi ausencia.
El P. Logan y yo estaremos fuera esta semana de martes a jueves por los días anuales de educación continua para el clero diocesano. Las conferencias de este año se centran en la predicación de la enseñanza social católica. No habrá confesiones el martes por la noche al jueves por la mañana, y las Misas serán reemplazadas por servicios de comunión.
