Pastor's Weekly Message: Sunday, February 13th, 2022
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We heard at Mass today about our annual renewal of our sacrificial giving commitments, which are so important for “Proclaiming His Hope, Love, and Glory.” Thank you for taking the time to consider prayerfully how God is calling you to be generous to His Church. You should receive more information in the mail this week about this important process. If you don’t, it likely means that you aren’t registered with our parish, so please go online or contact the parish office to update your registration or register for the first time.
Before the 1970s, today was the first of three Sundays in the Septuagesima Season. The name “Septuagesima” means 70 days. In the traditional Roman liturgy, during these three Sundays the Alleluia was no longer sung and purple vestments were used, but it was not yet a time of fasting and the general tone of the liturgy was subdued but nearly so much as during Lent. While we lamentably no longer have this liturgical preparatory period for Lent in the modern Roman rite, its spirit is still important for us. Now is the time to begin thinking about how you will live the holy season of Lent.
Our Lenten series will return in its full form this year on Tuesday evenings during the first four weeks of Lent. For the English track, that means the return of the soup supper on these evenings well.
Our church is now open more often for your private prayer. You can find the church unlocked at the following hours:
Monday – Friday: 6 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Recent read: The Cunning of Freedom by Ryszard Legutko. This book chronicles the impoverishment in our conception of freedom and the consequences of this impoverishment for man’s political, moral, and metaphysical dimensions. The author is a Polish political philosopher.

Hoy escuchamos en Misa sobre la renovación anual de nuestros compromisos de donación sacrificial, que son tan importantes para "Proclamar Su Esperanza, Amor y Gloria". Gracias por tomarse el tiempo para considerar en oración cómo Dios lo está llamando a ser generoso con Su Iglesia. Esta semana debe recibir más información por correo sobre este proceso importante.
