Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am sure that the first question on your mind is: Now that the State of Indiana has announced its Back on Track plan, when will we have public Mass again? First of all, let me say that we are extremely excited to be working on a comprehensive plan to open our church again for worship. I want to assure you that we are working as hard as possible to do this as soon as possible and as safely as possible. I must also ask for your patience because we need to do this safely. Neither the parish nor the Diocese received advanced notice regarding the contents of the governor’s orders. Thus, we need time to put together a good plan.

We will need help, especially with cleaning and sanitization. Look for information soon on how to sign up. Thank you in advance for your generous service!

We also need to manage our expectations. It is not going to be business as usual next Sunday. We need to be prepared for the possibility of:

• We may not re-open next Sunday. We still do not have firm dates. We need to coordinate with the other parishes in our Diocese.

• Social distancing will definitely remain in place.

• This will mean reduced capacity in our church.

• We might need to use a crowd-control system such as advanced ticketing.

• We may need to alter Mass times for cleaning and sanitization and to spread people out.

• We may not be able to sing together.

• Singing greatly increases viral spread and could necessitate social distancing of greater than six feet, thus further reducing our church capacity.

• We may strongly request you to wear facial coverings in order to keep other participants safe.

• Those in high risk categories will be encouraged to stay home.

• We will continue streaming Mass online for the benefit of those who will not yet be able to join us in person.

• We will be communicating with you via social media and email regarding what to expect.

Similarly, we are not prepared to have group meetings on our campus yet. We need more time to ensure proper procedures.

The parish office will start allowing people in on a limited basis, by appointment. Beginning Tuesday, you can call to schedule an appointment for in-person transactions, but we will also determine whether it is truly necessary for you to come into the office. We will continue doing everything possible remotely.

Our parish school is taking registrations for pre-K through 5th grade. Call the school office for more information (533-9480).

Our religious education program is still in the process of transitioning to online signups. It has been challenging to wrap up this year as we transitioned to online instruction and rescheduled events. Please stay tuned to hear about how to register for religious education for next year.

Primero, estamos muy emocionados de estar trabajando en un plan de reabrir nuestra parroquia a la Misa publica otra vez. Quiero asegurarles que estamos trabajando lo más posible para hacerlo en la manera más rápida y segura posible. Tengo que pedir su paciencia para que lo hagamos bien. Ni la parroquia ni la Diócesis recibió el plan del gobierno en adelante, entonces estamos en el proceso de integrar todo lo que hemos recibido y que vamos a recibir de la Diócesis esta semana. Entonces, necesitamos tiempo para hacer un plan.

• Cantar aumenta el riesgo de propagación del virus y podría necesitar más distancia entre las personas, limitando drásticamente la capacidad del templo.

• Podríamos sugerir fuertemente que lleven una cobertura de la cara.

• Los que están en categorías de alto riesgo estarán animados quedar en casa.

• Seguiremos transmitiendo la Misa en directo a beneficio de los que no pueden juntarnos en persona todavía.

• Estaremos comunicándoles por medio de los redes sociales y email para que sepan que esperar.

Similarmente, no estamos listos todavía tener reuniones de grupos en nuestro campus. Necesitamos más tiempo para preparar.

La oficina parroquial comenzará permitir entradas por cita a base limitada. A partir de martes, puede llamar para programar una cita, pero también a nuestra parte determinaremos si es realmente necesaria que venga en persona. Seguimos haciendo todo lo posible remotamente.

Nuestra escuela parroquial está aceptando registraciones de pre-escolar hasta quinto grado. Puede llamar a la oficina de la escuela para más información (533-9480). ¡Hay cupo limitado!
